AffiliateA long time friend and a dedicated artist on many levels, Jose Beltran is Hybrid None. Currently independently developing music as well as working to generate visual art to coincide with it, Hybrid None breaks the mold and works outside the industry standards. He has not only helped us with music for some of our projects, but he's also taken time to act in a few (see
"Too Hot for Carmex" and
"Bipartisan Cafe"). For more information or just to check out some of his work, visit his
MySpace.
TheDailyTube.com -
AffiliateThe best place to find the hottest videos on the net! Started back in 2006, TheDailyTube has become an internet hotspot for finding what's new, cool, weird, or funny in the huge sea of online videos. Our very own Austin Keenan has been a channel editor and associate editor for them for about 2 years now. The site has featured several SomeGuys videos starting with our
Interview with Emil Amos. Check them out
now and subscribe today! Grails -
ClientAn instrumental band whose musical style has been described as "Tibetan crime jazz". They hail from Portland, Oregon and they were our first clients back in 2007. For our first job with them we did a multicamera shoot of a
live performance at the legendary Knitting Factory in NYC that will be released in Spring 2009 on their first DVD release
"Acid Rain". We also returned to the Knitting Factory in 2008 to film another show for them, the footage from which was used in our video for
"Reincarnation Blues" and hopefully a few more videos in the near future. Check out their
Website for more information or check out their
myspace to listen to some tracks.
Holy Sons -
ClientHoly Sons frontman, Emil Amos (also of Grails), writes and performs mostly all of the tracks on every Holy Sons album, many of which are based off thousands of 4 track recordings he's made over the years. Occasionally compared to the likes of Neil Young, Holy Sons is a musical experience that generally flies under the radar and seems to revel in it. Despite the elusiveness of the Emil Amos, and the understandable difficultly to translate the music into a live show, Emil does occasionally play as Holy Sons with the help of friends and fellow musicians. We got the chance to go out and film 2 of his more recent shows in NY back in May of 2008. Footage from these shows is still being worked on but can be seen in our
exclusive interview with Emil Amos. Check out his
website or his
myspace for up-to-date information
Felipe Torres -
ClientFelipe is a diverse drummer who has worked with the likes of Davy Jones, Peter Karp and the Roadshow, and many more. He specializes in teaching beginners on drum set and orchestral percussion, reading, rudiments, and various styles of music. We first met up with him in late 2008 when we started filming his weekly instructional web series
"Flip of the Week" (Starting with Episode 6) which can be found on his
YouTube channel and usually also on his
MySpace page. We love working with Felipe, so definitely check back for more of his videos.
UCBW -
ClientThe UCBW is the official wrestling league of the well known
UCB theater in NYC. Running weekly "cage matches" with the occasional "pay-per-view" event, this group of comedians has gotten rave reviews for their parody wrestling humor. We got the chance to come out and film their PPV event titled
"Autumn Slamn", back in October of '08.
Exclusive Footage from this event is to be released weekly right
here on our website, so check back every week for
new matches! For more information on UCBW check out their
website, and if you go to see the show, be sure to tell them SomeGuys sent you.
Wanda McKiver -
ClientWriter of
The Black Rose Diaries and a fan of live theater, Wanda McKiver produced her first community theater piece October 6, 2007. Soon after she realized that she could contribute positive images of the African American community and quickly began production of her second. Her current project
"The Meltdown" is a live performance piece that is based around a collection of poems that create a narrative experience depicting the emotional rollercoaster of love in modern times. Recently we got the chance to film her and the cast being interviewed by New York Times columnist Jude Wright.
The Interview can be found in our
galleries. For more information and for tickets to upcoming performances of The Meltdown check out
Ms. McKivers website or
Myspace.
Jukebox The Ghost -
ClientA piano driven Washington DC trio with a unique sound and a great stage presence, Jukebox the Ghost has been compared to the musical styling of both Ben Folds Five and Queen. Their dedication to their music led to them self releasing their second album,
"Live and Let Live Ghosts", which separated them from the standard industry formula. We got the chance to meet up with them at a show in Brooklyn's Union Hall back in June of 2008. Check out the
Interview and the exclusive performance of
"Empire". For more information and a chance to hear some of their music, check out their
MySpace page!
Less Than Jake -
ClientLess Than Jake has been been playing their brand of Ska-Punk to millions of fans for over a decade. Cited by many as one of the groups that influence the revival of punk in the mid 90s, Less Than Jake continues to sell out shows and rock fans even 17 years after they first took the stage (yea I know, time sure flies!). We were happy to have the chance to meet up with their frontman Chris DeMakes back in June of 2008 for an
Interview before their show with Goldfinger at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. Check out their
website for up to date info and tour schedule.
In Musth -
ClientIn Musth is a progressive metal band with a powerful and unique sound. Some of their songs are instrumentals, some have vocals. We are currently editing footage for their first DVD. Check out their
Myspace for the most current information and to get a taste of their music. Expect to see allot more from these guys real soon!
The Cell Theorem -
Client"...multiple meter and tempo changes, combined with tight, Funk/Fusion-esque grooves, unique effects usage and superb orchestration... one might find them difficult to label as they feature elements of classical, jazz, funk, rock and metal"
From their MySpace Page
